Robin Solomon

Principal and senior consultant, Mercer Sentinel

Solomon is a principal of Mercer’s investment consulting business. He is based in Sydney and, as part of Mercer Sentinel, consults to clients on all issues associated with custody, back office, investment administration and transitions.
Solomon joined Mercer in February 2007 and has more than 23 years of experience in the investment and financial services industry. His previous experience includes eight years with Smith New Court (London) where he held various front-, back- and mid-office positions. As manager, Far East settlements, Solomon’s responsibilities included equities settlement in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. Robin concluded his time with Smith New Court researching and establishing trading capabilities in the emerging markets of Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
In 1996 Solomon joined State Trustees in Melbourne where, as general manager, account services he had responsibility for all transactional accounting functions including custody and fund accounting. Later as general manager, business services, his role encompassed legal, taxation, financial planning, funds management and mortgage securitisation.
Solomon joined Perpetual in Melbourne in 2000 and moved to Sydney in 2001 after transitioning its private client superannuation administration business from its Melbourne office. He went on to become national manager, fiduciary services, responsible for Perpetual’s personal trust, estate and charitable businesses.
Solomon has a broad financial services background including general and project management. He has been responsible for numerous system implementations, business reengineering projects and asset and operational transitions.
